Inspired by clear speakers that he had seen elsewhere, Daniel Jansson of Switch & Lever decided to make his own, using a cheap cardboard Bluetooth speaker set and some clear acrylic.
To build the case, he uses butt joints with a solvent adhesive (in this case, Acrifix 117, but other solvents such as acetone can be used). The solvents melt the acrylic, which essentially welds the parts together, leaving behind a strong join. It isn't a good idea to use super glue for this kind of project as it can leave hazy marks on the acrylic, and leaves brittle joins. Check out the full video to see the full build.
