After a colleague suggested he should make his laser diode go "pew pew", Patrick at SparkFun decided to make that a reality by making his very own raygun.
Starting with a laser diode and a bluetooth speaker, he modelled an enclosure in Fusion360 before laser cutting it out of plywood and painting it. It was then time to program the electronics and fit it all together. The laser diode used here is powerful enough to burn things, so it might be best not to try this at home!
Head to the SparkFun Blog to learn more about this project, you can also check out the GitHub repository if you wanted to try and make your own (with a less powerful laser, please!)
