Demonstrating different woodworking methods (and 3D printing), David Picciuto of Make Something made the same business card holder in 4 different ways.
To start, he first makes his own plywood out of walnut by cutting and sanding it into thin sheets before gluing them together with the direction of the grain alternating on each layer. This makes the wood stronger than simply using a thin piece of wood on your project.
Using the plywood, he then makes one business card holder using power tools, the second with a CNC, and finally laser cutting one. On top of that, he also 3D printed one. David has always been a big believer in the fact that it doesn't matter what tools you have, there's more than one way to make your project - although we're obviously to partial to a bit of laser cutting!
